Xbox game pass streaming pc9/2/2023 ![]() ![]() MS definitely needs to ensure that even people with sub-optimal internet setups can run the games well. It does seem like people have wildly different experiences though from looking at Resetera and the xCloud subreddit. I play games on my phone while cooking and play games in the park when I need to take a break from a long walk. I would actually be willing to recommend that casual gamers just play via streaming and not purchase the $500 console if I knew they could have as good of an experience as me. I do not notice anything other than minor spikes in latency. This week, I was able to finish in 1st in races on the Pro difficulty (which is the second highest difficulty) which is as good as I normally do when playing on my console. Two weeks ago, I definitely could not play Forza Horizon 4 as well as I normally can due to input lag. ![]() I feel like the latency issue is getting better over time. Is there anyone else who's had issues with xcloud despite seemingly having the right network conditions? What have you tried? Right now the only things on the top of my wishlist are 1) 2 or more players via a single device and 2) stream any game I own over the cloud I don't have to fool with installing updates or managing my hard-drive space. My son and I can play multi-player games from separate screens, despite just one Xbox in the house. I can cast from my phone to the various TVs in my house. The browser interface is faster than my Xbox one UI. I also have the same results when playing Destiny 2, Doom, Gears 5 and even online multi-player in Master Chief Collection.Īt this point, it's become my favorite way to play. I'm now playing through Control and performance is impeccable. I also locked it to Google Public DNS and use the 5G band for game streaming devices. I got this router for $17 used from Amazon, and it's been a game changer. It turns out the XB3 Wireless Gateway I rent from Comcast was the culprit. (Seems like xcloud generally uses less than 6Mbps down) I have 100Mbps down and 5.76Mbps up which should have been more than enough for high performance. ![]() Shooters were largely out of the question, because the hiccups would cause errant movement and aiming, and it would get frustrating. So I've already been pretty positive on xcloud (officially called Xbox Cloud Streaming (Beta) with Xbox Game Pass), but I could never get reliable enough performance to use it outside of some niche situations. ![]()
